Varicose Vein Treatment

Treating Veins

Treatment of varicose veins can range from simple lifestyle changes to conducting minimally invasive procedures to either close or remove veins in the body. In the beginning stages of varicose veins, there are non-surgical options to consider.

  • Compression stockings - Clinging to the legs, compression stockings help to restrict blood flow, preventing blood from flowing back into the valve. In order to fully see if pain can be alleviated and swelling decreases in varicose veins, compression stockings are worn for month.

In more severe cases, however, minimally invasive surgery may be required, for which there are many options.

  • Scleropathy - In an injection-based procedure, small and medium-sized varicose veins are given a solution that closes affected veins, allowing varicose veins to fade after a couple of weeks to months.

  • Laser-based procedures - Laser treatment is a new technology that uses laser light to close off varicose veins. By sending strong bursts of light into the vein, the veins begin to fade and disappear slowly, with no incisions.
